12” Fishtail Palm shown

Beautiful and dramatic! The Fishtail Palm has long arching stems with leaves that fan out and look like fishtails, giving this palm its name.

  • LIGHT: Lots of bright indirect light or some direct light. Gradually introduce the plant to direct light as to not burn the leaves.

  • WATER: Likes to stay evenly moist. Sensitive to chlorine and fluoride in water. Use distilled, rainwater, or water that has sat out for 24 hours to let the chemicals dissipate. LOVES humidity. A humidifier is the best way to increase the humidity for this large plant. Yellowing leaves can be caused by lack of humidity or harsh water.

  • FERTILIZER: Feed once a month with a diluted liquid fertilizer.
