Oncidium, Dancing lady Orchid

$60.00
Only 1 available

An incredible orchid with its tall spike standing over 3 feet tall. An epiphyte, growing in the bark of trees in the wild, primarily in jungles of Central and South America, and the West Indies. The flowers look as though they are dancing in the air when they sway from the tall spike. The blooms can last several weeks to several months. Orchids love to be root bound, so keep them in their pot as long as possible.

  • LIGHT: Oncidium love lots of bright indirect light. Direct sun will burn the leaves.

  • WATER: Allow the roots to nearly dry out between watering. Another way to know if it needs water is to look at the pseudobulbs, the thickened part of the base of the plant that stores water, to see if they have any wrinkles. If it is wrinkled, the orchid needs more water. Oncidiums also prefer room temperature distilled water or water that has sat out for 24 hours to let the minerals dissipate. Dunk the plant in water for 10-15 minutes and then let drain thoroughly, to mimic a heavy rainfall. To increase humidity, you can mist the flowers and the leaves often.

  • FERTILIZER: Feed once a month or twice a month with a diluted balanced orchid fertilizer.
